🔎 Error message: Database not accessible / Gateway no longer responding – Brevis.one

📌 Cause

This error message primarily occurs with older firmware versions.
The root cause is usually a full system partition, which prevents the database from writing new entries.

As a result, the database crashes or becomes inaccessible, and the web interface no longer functions correctly.

🛠️ Troubleshooting Steps

Depending on your level of expertise, there are three available solutions:

🔁 1. Factory Reset via Console (Standard Solution)

Requirements:

Console cable (USB or serial)
Terminal program like PuTTY or minicom

Procedure:

Connect to the gateway via the console cable (e.g., COM port, baud rate: 115200)
Navigate to the reset menu and execute a factory reset

⚠️ Warning: A factory reset irreversibly deletes all data, including:

License key
Address book
Configuration settings

💻 2. Use a Recovery Image (for System Failures)

If the console is unresponsive or the gateway no longer boots:

Solution: Reinstall the system using a Recovery Image

Download the latest recovery image from the customer portal:

Apply it to the gateway as per the official instructions (e.g., via USB stick)
Proceed with initial setup as if the device were new

🧑‍💻 3. Temporary Cleanup via SSH (for Support Personnel Only)

If SSH access is still available and a valid 8x5 support contract is in place that includes remote sessions:

Goal: Free up system space without losing configuration

A brevis.one support technician can connect remotely via console software and:

Delete old log files and event records directly
Restore the gateway’s basic functionality

This enables you to:

Perform a firmware update via image
Or back up the configuration before using a recovery image

As of Firmware Version 23.02, this issue has been permanently resolved:

Enhanced storage management
Optimized database structure
Early warning in case of critical disk usage
