Older modems can be identified by checking the IMEI number:

• IMEI starts with “3xxxxxx”: These models support 2G and 3G only.

⚠️ Important Notice: Network Sunsets

Please be aware of the current developments regarding mobile networks in Germany:

• 3G (UMTS): Completely shut down in 2021 – Source: Bundesnetzagentur.

• 2G (GSM):

  • Deutsche Telekom plans to shut down its 2G network by June 30, 2028.

  • Vodafone intends to shut down 2G by the end of 2030 – Source: Bundesnetzagentur.

This means that devices which support only 2G or 3G will no longer function reliably in the future.
